Appointment of Assistant Principal of Waterford High School
At the August 22, 2022 Waterford Board of Education Special Meeting, Ms. Amanda Batty was appointed as the Assistant Principal for Waterford High School. Ms. Batty will officially begin this new role on August 23, 2022. Ms. Batty will fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Ms. Alison Mullane.
Ms. Batty brings twenty-two (22) years of professional experience in education. She received her 6th year Administration certification from Sacred Heart University, a Master’s in Education from the University of Connecticut and a Bachelor’s in Biological Science from the University of Connecticut as well.
Ms. Batty currently serves as the Department Chair of the Science Department at Waterford High School (2007 – present) where she has also served successfully as a Science Teacher since 2000.
Colleagues and supervisors in Waterford remarked that Amanda Batty “has an incredible ability to lead and unite staff”. She “respects and understands individual strengths and needs and is a master at utilizing those differences to accomplish goals”. Ms. Batty is “compassionate yet strong, direct yet diplomatic, and always keeping what is best for students, the school, and the district in mind”. She is “an incredible teacher who understands the needs of our most vulnerable students and is able to inspire and push our most capable students”. Amanda Batty has “the skillset, personal integrity and intimate knowledge of our students and staff”… “she knows [WHS] well and is invested in making it even better”.
